Introduction
Omar or Omar e Farouq is an Arab mini historical drama TV Series whose production was carried out by MBC1 broadcasting company. Its director is a Syrian named Hatem Ali. Omar Series was on-aired on Qatar TV from 20th July to 18th August 2012 consisting of 30 episodes of 45 minutes each during the month of Ramadan. Omar Series depicts the life of the second great Caliph of Islam, Hazrat Omar ibn Al-Khattab (R.A). Omar Series also had to face controversy because of the depiction of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the form of a character just like the other Rashidun Caliphs Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A), Hazrat Omar (R.A), Hazrat Uthman (R.A), and Hazrat Ali (R.A).

The shooting of Omar Series was carried out in Morocco, more primarily in the cities of Tangiers, Marakesh, Casablanca, El Jadida, and Mohammedia. After its official broadcast on MBC (Middle-East Broadcasting Center), Omar Series has been dubbed in several languages for international broadcast and also subtitled in the English Language. Synopsis
Overwhelmingly increasing one’s faith, the series starts with the Caliph Hazrat Omar (R.A) delivering a sermon to the pilgrims during his pilgrimage to Mecca. He is remembering his old days when he was only 18-years old and used to work for his rude father named Khattab ibn Nufayl. This turns into a flashback and the series started showing his previous life. The time when he was a wrestler, then emerged as a great businessman and the most important leader from the Quraish tribe, his life after converting to Islam and becoming one of the closest companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). After his conversion to Islam, he proved himself a devoted believer, a great source of inspiration for other Muslims, and a bold warrior who fought a lot of Islamic battles.
Omar Series covers the whole story of his life passing through the Conquest of Mecca, death of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم), the selection of Abu Bakr (R.A) as the successor caliph then his death, and finally reaches to the age when Omar (R.A) was appointed as his successor caliph. Omar Series also explains the biographical improvements and the complexities he had to face during his caliphate period which ultimately resulted in his martyrdom through his assassination by Abu Lulu.
We are also aware of the fact that Dirilis Ertugrul is banned in Arab countries but despite that, this series was also shown in Turkey.
